Experience:

Before working in children’s television, I worked as a reporter under the byline Jesse Nankin. After completing my master’s degree, I joined The Initiative for Investigative Reporting at Northeastern University as the online editor. I was responsible for copy and content editing, research, reporting, maintaining the website, and writing profiles of New England journalists. In addition, I freelanced for The Boston Globe and was an intern and freelancer for ProPublica.

Prior to graduate school, I worked at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where I wrote feature stories, alumni news, and research briefs for what was then called the Harvard Public Health Review. I also managed their bi-monthly e-newsletter, and worked closely with fundraisers in the department to ensure we were effectively communicating the global impact of the school’s work and its alumni.

As a communications and marketing consultant, I supported a start-up behavioral health technology firm, writing press releases, and developing marketing materials. I worked both independently and in collaboration with marketing and public relations firms. I also maintained the company’s blog and social media accounts; assisted in the preparation of grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health, including copy and content editing and research; and edited and co-authored articles for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
